The Ancestor
Reviews
For the past three years I have been developing the attached script with my own funds. The script has received input from industry personnel such as Clem Martini (Calgary playwright/teacher), Al Magee (Toronto Story Editor), and David Sonnenschein (Los Angeles Director/Producer/Sound Designer/Writer).
Story Editor Al Magee worked on the rewrite with me when White Iron was involved in the project. His comments included: “This script has a huge potential to be something quite remarkable. Thanks for sending it my way.”
David Sonnenschein, Producer/Director/Author of "Sound Design: The Expressive Power of Music, Voice & Sound Effects in Cinema" commented:
"The Ancestor" script has the components of becoming a very entertaining, internationally accessible film. While the sci-fi supernatural genre is one of the most popular today, this story continues to raise the bar with some really intelligent questions and ideas about our origin of species and relationship to the cosmos. Audiences are hungry for this. With the right production components and solid cast, this film has a great chance to make it big with a theatrical release.” |

The Ancestor
Synopis
REES has been haunted his whole life. Some say it began when his parents were murdered. Others believe that being the son of a Native mother and white father was bound to create problems. But deep down he knows it’s something else. It has to do with the visions; visions of aliens, other worlds, things he cannot speak of.
While working as a palaeontology tech for his friend ALDEN in the famous dinosaur badlands, he stumbles on a cave full of hieroglyphics. With the help of a summer student, SANDRA, they decipher the writing. It describes an alien race, THE ANUNNAKI, who “From heaven to Earth came”, to genetically engineer humans.
In the same area, human fossils are found, evidence of these genetic experiments, evidence of hybrids created using human and alien DNA.
Thrilled with the discovery, they enlist the help of Rees’ AUNT MEDA, a scientist at the Royal Tyrell Museum. Unknown to the others, Rees also finds the remains of an alien device in the cave. It is the one from his dreams…the one given to him by his real mother, NIN-TI of the Anunnaki.
Rees and his tribe’s Shaman, HAKAN, use vision quests to unravel the mystery of his own past and his own ancestors, and the realization that he is the newest hybrid, mankind’s next evolutionary step. But time is running out, he must contact the Anunnaki and finish the experiment. If he fails, he will join his ancestors in the mass burial chamber deep under the hoodoos of the Badlands. And mankind’s time on Earth will come to an end.
